When you get married in the Catholic Church you enter into a covenant with one another through God. A covenant is different from a contract. In a contract, you focus on the specific conditions, whereas in a covenant, you focus on the person unconditionally. Your marriage is a solemn, life-long covenant.  In order to help you live the covenant of marriage, God gives you, in the sacrament of matrimony, a special gift – the gift of His grace. God’s grace is God’s divine life dwelling within you. God’s grace will help you to witness to God’s love for you and all humanity.
