Help! I can't figure this out!

It’s hard to believe that less than a year and half ago we were using the “old” website.  That site had about a dozen pages and the content rarely changed.  What a difference a year can make!  Today, Tech-Sloganour award winning www.IHMparish.com has around 200 separate pages of constantly changing content.  We have over 400 registered users and get several thousand hits each month.  We now have our own bookstore, a prayer request center, a podcast center, and links to some of the best tools on the internet to help you grow in your faith.  And this fall, the parish and school websites have become completely integrated.

It’s not always easy.  Doing things different has meant a year of transition – of getting used to new things.  Whenever computers are involved unforeseen glitches are bound to pop up – and believe me, they have.  And of course, sometimes, the computers work fine but the people using them mess up – and believe me, they have.  Sometimes we ask, “Why bother?”  Well, we have three purposes that drive everything we do on the website.  First, we want to draw YOU deeper into your faith.  We do that by having a site that keeps you informed of all the events happening in our community to help you learn about God or serve your fellow man and we provide you with a single location to access the best resources of our faith.  Second, we want to share the message of Christ with others.  In today’s world people looking for a Church or searching for answers about Catholicism are more likely to look first on the web.  When they do, we want to be there to present the face of Christ.  And finally, we want to help the parish be good stewards of its resources.  With 1,000 families in our community, the operation of scores of different groups and a thriving school can quickly use up a tremendous amount of precious time, talent and money.  The more we all get used to “checking the website” for information, the more we free up our staff and volunteers from time consuming administrative tasks, we will start spending less on paper, printing and postage and all of our time and talents will be used more efficiently.

"The question confronting the Church today is not any longer whether the man in the street can grasp a religious message, but how to employ the communications media so as to let him have the full impact of the Gospel message."
- JOHN PAUL II
