Religious Education at Immaculate Heart of Mary does more than merely present information or basic instruction for our young people, rather we work to catechize them. Religious Education, or CCD, classes meet during the school year for grades 1-6. Our goal is to form our children in their faith and prepare them to enter into the Sacramental life of the Church. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, article 4 states:  "Quite early on, the name catechesis was given to the totality of the Church's efforts to make disciples, to help men believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name..."

Catechesis is about transformation of the heart toward the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.   Our children should be taught the essentials of the faith while at the same time be able to live this daily in family life (and school life, etc). Our program therefore, supports the parents in their responsibility of  forming disciples for the Lord and His Church.  With weekly Sunday Mass, weekly CCD and daily family prayer, our children will grow strong in faith and courageous in Christian action.

Class Information

All classes meet Sundays from 9:35-10:45 a.m., between Masses, beginning each fall through May. Our Religious Education 2011-12 begins September 18.  Join us in the gym for introductions, instructions and encouragement.  

If you have a son or daughter in the 7th or 8th grade, they will be meeting on Wednesday evenings, beginning September 21 at 7:15 pm.
