Dear Students and Families,
Greetings from the fourth grade classrooms! Check out what we are doing in rooms 4-13 and 4-14:
† Spelling: Students are to complete Unit 20. Students are to write 20 sentences, in cursive on control paper, using any of the 30 spelling words.
† English: All of the students scored very well on their Verb Unit Assessment. We are currently working on the Adjective Unit.
† Math: Students scored very well on their Chapter 4 Assessment on long division. We began Chapter 5 on Factors and Multiples this week.
† MMF: Many students have moved into division and are realizing that knowing their multiplication facts is key to remembering the division facts. A few students have finished their Division MMF and we are going back to subtraction, to review and sharpen those facts.
† Social Studies: Students did very well on their Social Studies Assessments! We will begin our next unit next week.
† Science: We are finishing up our unit on Electricity. Students have participated in several labs and are learning many new things! We will have our Science test at the end of the week. Please check assignment notebooks for the exact date!
† Religion: We continue to work with our Venture Magazines. We continue to use our Bibles to delve deeper into the weekly Scripture Readings and the Gospel. We discuss and apply The Beatitudes daily in our lessons and the students will be beginning a project on The Beatitudes shortly.
† Reading: Students are reading biographies during their silent reading time and at home and have been taking notes on the key facts on their person’s life. They were given a outline for their book report, which is due on Tuesday, February 21. They will be given their poster paper for their cut out and will be bringing it home today. Oral presentations will be scheduled the week of the 20th. The students may dress up as the person that they wrote their biography on for their presentation for extra credit. THIS IS NOT MANDATORY!
REMINDERS:
-Report cards will be coming home Friday, February 10.
-Science test this week!
-Conferences are optional. Although we feel that the students are doing very well at this point in the year, we are willing schedule a conference if you feel that it is necessary. Please return the conference form to Mrs. Brecken
