Afternoon K-News

For the week of February 6, 2012

During the week of February 6th, we learned about the letter Ll and our new sight word, 'what.'

• POEM BOOKS: Our poem for the week was Five Little Valentines.  We talked about main idea and made hearts.
• READING: We read Because a Little Bug Went Ka-Choo and learned about how germs spread.  We talked about keeping our hands clean!
• SCIENCE:  We cleaned a dirty penny with lemon juice.  It was amazing to see the transformation after the penny soaked in the lemon juice!

In addition, the All day children also…

• READING: We read Llama, Llama misses Mama.

• RELIGION:  We are doing very well with The Guardian Angel Prayer, and now we are focusing on the Our Father and Hail Mary.

• SOCIAL STUDIES:  As we study the world, we focused on Grand Rapids this week by viewing photos and videos from our cool city.  We talked about different places in downtown that we have visited.
• JOURNAL: We each wrote about our favorite lady.
• FINE MOTOR: We painted lovely lollipops!
